About the comic
Curtain Call is a webcomic by Setsuna (Nicolle Lamerichs) derived from an earlier story published at doujinshi circle OpenMinded. It was part of a rather peculiar anthology. In May 2009 OpenMinded published a large pocket, Heroes and Villains, covering various stories that took place in one setting: Samaritan City, a town with a culture that is driven by heroes and villains. Since the webcomic takes place in the same city, you will also become acquainted with some of the local characters. The online comic is meant to be a stand-alone project though at points it refers to the franchise we built with several artists. This varies from cameos to some events that were established in the printed story. The anthology is still available through the circle's site or online shop Archonia which ships all over the world. Hopefully some of the other stories in Heroes and Villains will also continue online or in print.
The first story ended with Splendour in jail, which is where this webcomic begins. In short, the narrative revolved around Splendour's affection for Charade whom she only knew as a public persona, a hero. To catch his attention as a semi-villain and make an artistic statement she staged a living puppet play with actual actors. She numbed various actors who were just having a rehearsal with some chemicals and was finally stopped by Charade who arrested her. In this webcomic you will find out a lot more about the two of them, their backgrounds and developing relationship. The genre is a light mix of comedy, action and romance in a nice superhero setting.
