Curtain Call won Dutch Webcomic Award!

Curtain Call won the Dutch webcomic Award in the category 'Epic' yesterday. A trophy was handed out for the best narrative webcomic, the other categories being cartoon and gag. The professional judges depicted Curtain Call as a 'colourful', 'female' graphic novel with 'flair'. The panel consisted of Klaas Knol, owner of the prominent store Lambiek in Amsterdam; Jeroen Jager, famous cartoonist and illustrator; writer Natasja van loon and scenario writer/reviewer Johan de Rooij with Tom Hamoen as its chair.

Naturally I felt very flattered that I got this award. Since this webcomic is something that I do in my free time now, it's sometimes hard to keep at it. My job as a PhD candidate is often more than a full time job that leaves little time for art. (Like artists, scholars tend to work long hours. Being both is not very convenient all the time.) It's recognition and apprecation like this that keeps you at it. Not to mention that it keeps the creative juices going. Today there will be some updates on the site, so stay tuned. Thank you, loyal readers, friends and fellow-artists, for supporting me! I am very grateful, and so are the characters!

  w00t!

Wow, gefeliciteerd! :D Dat is echt chique. ^^ *knuff*
